Law Week 2007, the WA Law Schools Cup and Tri-Law Show

Jump to Comments

This week (May 7 to 11) is the WA Law Society’s Law Week. This is a week of events for Lawyers, Law Students and the General Public. Law week is also the week of the Western Australia Law Schools Championship Cup (WALSCC). The WALSCC is involves three WA Law Schools fighting it out over three competitions:

  • The Academic Challenge (Essentially “It’s Academic” for Law Students with some Legal “Who Wants to be a Millionaire”, Legal Charades, Legal Pictionary and Legal Celebrity Heads thrown in for good measure) - Tuesday 8th of May at 7:30pm (Freehills Lecture Theatre @ Murdoch University);
  • Negotiation - Wednesday 9th of May at 7:30pm (Room ND21/102 @ Notre Dame); and
  • Mooting - Thursday 10th of May at 7:30pm (Moot Court @ UWA).

Murdoch is the defending Academic Challenge Champion (having won this competition 5 of the 7 years it has run) and is also, courtesy of winning the Academic Challenge by a large margin, the defending WA Law Schools Championship Cup Champion. I’m glad to say I played my part in securing the championship last year and I am looking forward to defending our crown again this year.  Keep your eye on my blog if you want the results.

Law Week is also traditionally the week of the Tri-Law Show, an infamous joint event between Murdoch, UWA and Notre Dame. This year it is being held at the OBH (click here for the flyer). Tickets are available from MSLS at the usual times/places (i.e. 11:30-1:30 at the stall either on Bush Court or in the Law School or pretty much any other time you can find an MSLS exec member).
